The new laboratory facility is composed of a robust Weatherhaven tent and is configured with areas and conditions necessary for the clean and safe handling of samples for advanced sediment, chemical, and geochemical analysis, as well as space to conduct basic chemical analyses and service field sensors and electronics. The heated and vented facility allow us to conduct analyses such as spectrofluometric analyses, and other basic water quality analyses that require relatively stable ambient temperature and humidity conditions.
The facility houses a propane refrigerator/freezer, acid storage cabinet, an acid fume hood, and bench top pH and conductivity meters. The lighting, fume hood, and electric vacuum pumps all run on solar power.
